The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is the newest variant of the succesful F/A-18 Hornet family to see action. In 1999 the type was introduced at NAS Lemoore when VFA-122 became the conversion squadron for the type. Before that, the East en West Coast testsquadrons at Pax River and China Lake had already evaluated the aircraft extensively. The first Super Hornet squadron to depart for a cruise onboard a carrier, VFA-115 on the USS Abe Lincoln, saw plenty of action over Iraq. In the coming years a large number of F-14A/B/D and F/A-18C squadrons will receive the Super Hornet.

Below is a list of Super Hornet squadrons and their transition-schedule, Operation Iraqi Freedom might have induced some changes! Some of the squadrons are 'clickable'.
