The first four Romanian MiG-29 Fulcrums (41, 46 , 15 and 23) arrived in Romania shortly before the December 1989 revolution. It was not before April 1990 that the first trainingflights were made. Serviceability has been low during the past few years with all aircraft grounded as of the summer of 2002. In January 2003 they were officially withdrawn from use. One MiG-29 is on loan to the Aerostar factory which uses it to demonstrate the Sniper-package. Normally all Fulcrums were based at Baza 57 Aeriana Mihail Kogalniceanu near the city of Constanta.
