MiG-23MLD

Bulgaria's most capable Floggers were without a doubt the export MiG-23MLD delivered in 1984 and 1985. The sixteen received were used to replace the veteran MiG-21PF/PFM at Gabrovnitsa airbase, located close to the Romanian and Yugoslav border. In 1992 the BVVS took delivery of five ex-Soviet AF MiG-23MLDs. They were exchanged for the three remaining BVVS MiG-25s. The MLD's were withdrawn in November 2002.
