MiG-23BN

The first BVVS MiG-23BNs were delivered in November 1976 to the 25 IBAP (Fighter-Bomber Aviation Regiment) at Cheshnegirovo AvioBasa near Plovdiv. They were used to equip two squadrons who flew MiG-17 and Lim-5 aircraft. The last public appearance of a BVVS MiG-23BN was at the October 2000 Krumovo airshow. Nowadays most Bulgarian MiG-23BNs are stored at their homebase facing an uncertain future. In their 25-year career six MiG-23BNs were lost killing one pilot.
